Decant Her

Decant Her

This was my first attempt at realism. I decided to paint a decanter to study how light reflects and refracts off of glass. Once I was done with the painting I started thinking about the female figure. The concept of decanting is to transfer something from one vessel to another. The lines and cuts are like a woman's scars that she wears but still is able to shine. It is also points to how vulnerable people can be when they "open up".

My first exhibition for this piece was at Gallery 317- Art After Dark event.
